The following is a news release from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service:

Kisatchie National Forest will close the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness Area of the Kisatchie Ranger District on Feb. 28 until further notice for a controlled burn or “prescribed burn.”

Boundary Road Bridge replacement project begins Feb. 28

Boundary Road Bridge replacement project begins Feb. 28

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that the project to replace Boundary Road Bridge ih Leesville will begin on Feb. 28 and will continue for four months.

Guinn Construction will perform the work. The existing bridge is scheduled to be removed on March 4. The roadway will be closed to traffic during the duration of the project.

The Leesville Police Department has reported the following arrests from Feb. 18 to 24:

Brandie Michelle Bates, a White Female, 31, for Forgery ($5,000 bond), Misrepresentation During Booking ($1,000 bond), Identity Theft ($5,000 bond), Injuring Public Records ($1,000 bond) and Resisting an Officer ($1,000 bond). 

Edwin D. Calvin, a Black Male, 28, for Failure to Appear ($5,000 bond).

John Matthew Carver, a White Male, 33, for Theft ($1,000 bond).

Gov. Jindal announces appointment of Johnston to State Board of Examiners of Interior Designers

The following is a news release from the State of Louisiana Office of the Governor:   

Governor Bobby Jindal has announced the appointment of Marion Johnston to the State Board of Examiners of Interior Designers.

Marion Johnston, of Natchitoches, is a licensed interior designer and retired from the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court in New Orleans. Johnston will be appointed to serve as a representative of the American Society of Interior Designers, as required by statute.
